Jazz Fest! Willem Paynter, Ethan Ardelli, Luis Deniz

On our third night of Halifax Jazz Fest, host Willem Paynter welcomes back drummer Ethan Ardelli!

Originally from Sydney, NS, Ethan is a Juno award winning drummer and composer based in Toronto. One of the most in demand jazz artists in Canada Ethan has worked with Dewey Redman, Mark Turner, Mark Feldman, Jeremy Pelt, George Mraz, Mulgrew Miller and Greg Osby! In 2006 he won the Grand Prix de Jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival and now he’s leading his own ensemble showcasing his original compositions.

Accompanying Willem and Ethan is cuban-born Luis Deniz on saxophone! Luis won the Grand Prix de Jazz at the 2006 Montreal Jazz Festival and was a Galaxie Rising Star at the 2010 Halifax Jazz Festival. He’s a Grammy Nominated and Juno Award Winning alto saxophonist and is now an educator at Toronto’s prestigious Humber College.
